STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN AND DOUBLE TROUBLE: Blues at Sunrise (Epic / Legacy)

Chances are if you've been a SRV fan for any length of time, you probably already own most of the songs on Blues at Sunrise (three tracks are making their debut on CD). Even so, it's quite possibly the most consistent release in the SRV catalog. His four 'proper' albums all had a variety of musical styles--rock, blues, jazz, or a combination of them all. This one, however, concentrates strictly on the blues.

The unreleased tracks are a live version of "Tin Pan Alley" (with Johnny Copeland, from the 1985 Montreaux Jazz Festival), an alternate take of "The Sky is Crying," and a killer version of "Texas Flood" from the Live at the El Mocambo video. Whether you're a long time fan, or just discovering this blues master, you won't find a bad cut anywhere on this disc.
